Spiritual Marriage Part II

“We are members of Christ’s body…The two shall become one flesh. This mystery is a profound one” Ephesians 5:31-32

Spiritual marriage is a profound mystery. It is higher and deeper than physical marriage and makes it possible for a truly intimate, long-lasting, satisfying marriage. It is the Passion that leads to a passionate marriage. It is a mystery whose time has come to be revealed. “Now to him who is able to strengthen you according to the gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery which was kept secret for long ages, but is now disclosed and through the prophetic writings is made known to all nations, according to the command of the eternal God to bring about the obedience of faith–to the only wise God be glory for evermore through Jesus Christ!” (Romans 16:25-27).

The mystery of the “two shall become one flesh” is that you and I can become one flesh with Christ Jesus. We can, through spiritual marriage, become one body and mind with Christ. This is an inner transformation that can occur within the body. The true church is the BODY of Christ and it can be located within our very bodies if we accept and allow it. “Behold the dwelling of God is with humans…I saw no temple in the city” (Revelation 21:3,22). Our higher Self is Christ, our higher nature is one with Christ, and our body can transfigure as a holy vessel. “The life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies” (2 Corinthians 4:10). We can be made whole as we transform into a completed human being, the anthropos, and become fully human as well as fully divine in this lifetime. We were created in the image and likeness of God. Only the limited ego mind, deceiving us into thinking we are less than this or unworthy, can keep us from our true inheritance and our real identity.

The mystery is the actual inner marriage between your soul and God. The two become one flesh, one mind, one heart, one soul, and one spirit. Jesus said, “In that day you will KNOW that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you” (John 14:20). You and God become ONE being with no separation, as you can only be separated from the essence and presence of God if you do so with your God-given free will mind. This is something that is not taught and must be discovered. It is not something that can be intellectually known, but must be experienced within your own body as you return to the perfection and wholeness in which you were created. The mystery is the actual physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual transformation that can be experienced within the body. The body of Christ is our own body when we let go of all the layers of conditioned belief! When we realize the truth of our real identity, we can let go of everything that is not Christ and watch our bodies and lives transform.

With this inner transformation you can realize a totally transformed outward marriage to your human spouse. “I betrothed you to Christ to present you as a pure bride to her one husband” (2 Corinthians 11:2). With the inner spiritual marriage you release the mistruths, emotional baggage and past wounds that keep you from intimacy and the deeper love that can seem so illusive in today’s jaded, jilted, betrayed, abandoned, cynical, and divorce-happy society. It is in the living, active, intimate relationship with Christ in your body that your outer relationships are empowered and enlivened.

Your primary spouse is God. “Your maker is your husband” (Isaiah 54:5). You might say that is fine for women but what about men? The soul is always considered feminine in both men and women’s bodies. The spiritual marriage is between our soul and God. The inner marriage is your soul as bride and Christ as bridegroom. “Come, I will show you the Bride, the wife of the Lamb” (Revelation 21:9b). The bride is YOU! This primary inner union allows you to enter into a deeper sacred union with your husband or wife. “Seek first the kingdom of God and all these things shall be yours as well” (Matthew 6:33).

If you come to God as a bride you will be made whole. “You shall be called by a new name which the mouth of the Lord will give. You shall be a crown of beauty in the hand of the Lord, and a royal diadem in the hand of your God. You shall no more be termed Forsaken, and your land [consciousness] shall no more be termed Desolate; but you shall be called My delight is in her and your land Married for the Lord delights in you and your land shall be married…and as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride, so shall God rejoice over you” (Isaiah 62:2-5).

“Delight in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart!” (Psalm 37:4).

You know i have to say if i were on the outside looking in at this inner relationship or marriage that is the spiritual union where the two become one, and didn’t have it, i would be anxious to get it. It has taken me in this lifetime all of a concious effort of 30 years. I think though that there are those who will become “one” in this way that you speak of here possibly in a matter of hours and that is a great hope for those who feel anxious over the seeming perplexity of the situation at hand in the times we live in. But then again, we were told to be anxious for NOTHING! I remember walking in the woods and seeing a tall pine tree, the Lord told me it represented me in the spirit. I walked around it and saw that it had a “forked top”. That freeked me out and i asked Spirit “oh no, what does that portend for me” the reply was ” the two of us walk as one”. It turned out to be a great relief and i fell on my knees with my head down, really having a hard time grasping why God would even care about me, then i looked up and saw three sparrows flying around the top of the tree. Then i remembered Mathew 29:31, “Don’t be afraid, you are worth more to me than many sparrows”. That kind of love hammers you when it happens! Carry on!

  2. You said, “I think though that there are those who will become “one” in this way that you speak of here possibly in a matter of hours and that is a great hope for those who feel anxious over the seeming perplexity of the situation at hand in the times we live in.” I couldn’t agree more as Jesus said those who said yes to labor at the final hours would receive the same amount as those who had labored for hours. Everything is available for all, whether we strive and effort for years or by faith just step into the kingdom. It think that the external world’s evolution (God’s inner Spirit kingdom was, is and will be forever perfect, complete and glorious) is allowing more and more people to wake up and receive the divine inheritance with ease and grace. Thank you for sharing your experiences as your witness can assist others to realize the same gift of grace in their lives. Testimony is prophesy for others for it to begin to manifest in their lives as well. Reading Jesus’ testimony/words is prophesying over our own life so it can come to pass; so Awesome! May you be richly blessed beyond what you ask, think or imagine!
