Compassion says I walk in the light of Christ, neither veering left nor right, and I choose to see others through the eyes of Christ from Above, the eyes of compassion. Where there is darkness, compassion brings light. President Trump is a litmus test that brings out what is deep in your heart: either darkness or light. The deep hatred and vitriol extended toward him or those who disagree with you says nothing about him; it says everything about those who hate and spew enmity and division. We do not see the world as it is; we see the world as we are.
“Your eye is the lamp of your body; when your eye is sound (see as Christ sees), your whole body is full of light; but when it is not sound (see as Adam sees), your body is full of darkness. Therefore BE CAREFUL lest the light in you be darkness” Luke 11:34-35
“He who says he is in the light and hates his brother is in the darkness still. He who loves his brother abides in the light and in it there is no cause for stumbling. But he who hates his brother is in the darkness and walks in darkness, and does not know where he is going, because darkness has blinded his eyes” 1 John 2:9
“Take the log out of your own eye before you try to take the speck out of others”
“I will show you a still more EXCELLENT WAY…Love is patient and kind…not arrogant or rude. Love does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice in wrong, but rejoices in the right. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things…when the perfect (Christ in you) comes, the imperfect (Adam in you) will pass away…Make love your aim, and earnestly desire the spiritual gifts” 1 Cor 12:31-14:1
It is the kindness of God that leads to repentance: metanoia or changed minds or way of thinking.
