“I baptize you with water, but Jesus will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire” ~John the Baptist
In the old covenant, Elijah called down fire and destroyed the prophets of ba’al. John the Baptist, sent to prepare the way for Jesus, was Elijah, though they did not know him (Matthew 17:10-13), told us he baptized with water but Jesus would baptize us with Holy Spirit and fire. The religious rulers did not recognize Jesus as the Messiah; accused him of ministering the devil. How is it that people call good evil and evil good? The father of lies, the god of this world blinds the minds of unbelievers, keeps them veiled, to keep them from seeing the light of Truth; the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, the likeness of God (2 Corinthians 4:4).
When the disciples asked Jesus if they should call down fire, he rebuked them. God sent Jesus to save, heal, deliver and set free, every one, all of us, no matter how low you have gone, Jesus can go deeper and raise you up; no one is too far gone to be out of reach of Jesus’ saving grace. Jesus finished the work of the Cross for the joy given to Him; the joy he wants to give to every human so our joy can be complete with Christ in us.
“Jesus was anointed with the oil of gladness above all others”
Jesus was, is, and is to come, the only Righteous One; we come to Jesus, give Him all our sin and falling short of the glory; and Christ Jesus gives us forgiveness of sin, redemption, salvation, sanctification, His righteousness and His glory by receiving Christ in you, the hope of glory. “Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a desire fulfilled is a tree of life” Proverbs 13:12
“Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the deepest desires of your heart” Psalm 37:4
Our deepest desire is to know God and his glory; even though it may be unconscious to begin with. The human soul desires to abide in Christ and Christ in you; we were created in God’s image and likeness; nothing else will satisfy the human soul but the righteousness of God.
Nothing else will eternally satisfy; nothing else but Christ in you will fulfill you. Every longing, yearning of your soul is to reunite with Christ, whether you know it yet or not; every addiction, unhealthy or ungodly passion is a veiled desire to be reunited with God. The prince of the power of the air tries to keep you distracted, numb, and focused on what you don’t have; keep you wanting things that will never satisfy your soul, and will end up hurting you.
“The thief comes to steal, kill and destroy” by using things that look good, but lead to destruction.
It is more than time to wake up, and arise from the dead and Christ will give you light. Now is the time; now is the day of salvation. “Come to Me all who are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest. Take my yoke, learn from me, for I am humble, tender-hearted and compassionate, and you will find rest for your mind and heart and will; rest for your soul.”
Jesus comes to give you life and life abundant. “I am the Way and the Truth and the Life; the way to the Father is through Me”
Jesus came to earth from God to willingly sacrifice himself for those God loves as Himself; his human creation; made in God’s image and likeness, but fallen, asleep, dead to the truth of who we are and who we are meant to be. Jesus came to the world to die on the Cross as the last Adam, to resurrect a new creation in a new covenant, as first born from the dead; to be alive forever more to intercede for us. Jesus ascended to the Father; exalted above every other being in heaven and on earth. Christ Jesus was glorified, and sends His glorified Spirit as a river of living water, to baptize us with the Holy Spirit and the holy fire from the throne of God our Father.”God is a consuming fire” (Hebrews 12:29). The fire dissolves the old and the Holy Spirit forms the new; the fire dissolves all that is antichrist and leaves only Christ Spirit in you, so you can go forth in peace and be led forth in Joy; led by the Holy Spirit as a son of God (Romans 8:14).
“If any one is in Christ, he is a new creation, the old has passed away, behold, the new has come”
