The “be” attitudes of the heart are not understandable by the mind of man, but the heart humbled and surrendered to God can receive Christ into our hearts to change everything.
“Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven”
It is our need for God recognized that allows us to turn to the Lord and be unveiled to be able to see we need Jesus. We give our “poor spirit” to Jesus and he gives us his Holy Spirit so we can be in intimate fellowship with God our Father and the Son who are one, by the Holy Spirit Jesus prays for us to receive, which the world cannot see or receive. But those who come to Christ, bind our soul to him, learn from his humble, gentle, compassionate, pure heart, find rest in God as we let the Holy Spirit work in and through us.
“Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted”
I don’t know anyone who has not suffered loss. Holy Spirit is the Comforter, and living in this very uncomfortable world of darkness is impossible without the Comforter sent by God out of heaven to be with and in us forever. Without the Holy Spirit, I could not go on.
“Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth”
God opposes the proud, exalts the humble. The humble boast only of God and give him the glory and dominion. Pride comes before a fall. This world is overcome by pride, lust of the flesh and lust of the eyes, which are not of the Father and destroy those who will not come to Jesus and repent and receive forgiveness and the kingdom of God (1 John 2:16-17). Do not love the world or the things of the world. If any one loves the world, love for the Father is not in him (1 John 2:15). This dark world is of the old heavens and earth and will pass away, but those who do the will of God abide forever (1 John 2:17). The Word never passes away; the meek receive the Word in their humbled heart soil to grow Christ by the Holy Spirit River and nourishment by the Son of Righteousness.
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied”
For behold the day comes burning like an oven, when all the arrogant and evildoers shall be stubble, the day that comes shall burn them up, leaving neither root nor branch. But for you who fear God’s Name the Sun of Righteousness shall rise with healing in his wings. You shall go forth leaping with joy like a new-born calf. And the wicked will be ashes under your feet (Malachi 4:1-3).
“Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy”
Mercy trumps judgment; those who are judging unrighteously receive judgment instead of mercy; those who humble their hearts and ask Jesus for forgiveness of sins and falling short of the glory receive redemption under the Blood. Seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness. We receive righteousness by faith in Jesus who is Righteousness Itself. Self-righteousness causes people to withhold mercy; they say “all is love” but cruelly hate those who are unlike themselves.
“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God”
Only Jesus can purify a heart. Apart from Christ all have Jeremiah 17:9 hearts. Apart from Christ, both Jews and Gentiles are under the power of sin, as it is written: “None is righteous, no, not one; no one understands, no one seeks for God. All have turned aside, together they have gone wrong; no one does good, not even one (they only think they are doing good). Their throat is an open grave, they use their tongues to deceive. The venom of asps is under their lips. Their mouth is full of cursing and bitterness. Their feet shed blood, in their paths are ruin and misery, and the way of peace they do not know. There is no fear of God before their eyes” (Romans 3:9-18). Apart from Christ you are already condemned (John 3:18), but in Christ there is no condemnation. When we come to Christ and give him everything, he gives us everything, and as we yield to the Holy Spirit and fire of God, the old is dissolved and the new is formed in Christ-likeness. “You must be born again” (John 3:7). Thank God for Jesus and the finished work of the Cross! All can come to Christ just as they are; he will not leave you as you are of this world. He is the light and his fire power can deliver you from the dominion of darkness and transfer you to the kingdom of the beloved Son. Only the Holy Spirit can purify, refine and make us white as snow under the Blood, Water and Spirit of God sent from heaven out of God to those who give their heart to be enthroned by the King of kings and Lord of lords.
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the sons of God”
In Christ alone there is peace, in the world you will have tribulation. Jesus has overcome this dark world, and in Christ we can have his Peace that is beyond understanding. Have no anxiety about anything but in everything ask Jesus with thanksgiving, and your heart and mind will be kept in the Peace of Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:6-7). God keeps us in perfect Peace when our mind is stayed on Jesus and what he has done for us, and we trust God (Isaiah 26:3).
“Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven”
The kingdom of God is righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. Without righteousness you cannot abide in the kingdom; without righteousness there is no real peace; without true peace there cannot be real joy; without the Holy Spirit there is no true joy of the Lord, our strength. We can do all things in Christ who strengthens us; apart from Christ we can do nothing but be slaves to sin, death and the devil. In Christ and Christ in us we no longer fall short of the glory and give all the glory to God our Eternal Father.
“Blessed are you when men revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so men persecuted the prophets who were before you”
Jesus is the only righteous man who never sinned, was totally innocent and submitted to the Father, which caused the religious elite to hate him, be jealous, and afraid they would be exposed for putting people in bondage to their false religion and corrupt government. Because he proclaimed the Way to God, the Truth about God and the Life of God for all who believed him as the Son of God, the Christ, the Messiah, he was brutally tortured and crucified on a cross, the most excruciating death for the worst criminals. His betrayal was far worse than any betrayal we have experienced, and only Jesus is able to take our burdens and betrayals that we are unable to bear. Jesus can make us whole again as he replaces the lies, slander, gossip, betrayal, character assassination spoken and written against us, and their misunderstanding of what God has done for us; he replaces the false witness against us with his Truth. In Christ and Christ in us we can live in this dark world with people who do not know God and his glory; pray and forgive them. “Father forgive them, for they know not what they are doing.”
