There is no peace without forgiveness; there is no forgiveness without Jesus. We need to forgive ourselves for our own sins, falling short of the glory, mistakes, missteps, misadventures, and trespasses that came from the spirit of error. We need to forgive others for all of their errors, sins and falling short of the glory. A heart given to Jesus is willing to forgive; can and does forgive, and is able to have compassion for others who don’t know Jesus yet, therefore, lash out violently because all they see is the darkness of this fallen, broken world. They need Jesus but they don’t know him, therefore, they don’t know God our Father who is able to change their lives in a twinkling by the Holy Spirit who pours love into our Christ-surrendered-hearts when we feel “less than” (Romans 5:5).
“IF any one is in Christ, they are a new creature, the old nature passes away, behold, the new has come. We are reconciled through Jesus to the Father, Who gives us the ministry of reconciliation and we no longer see people from a human point of view but from God our Father’s view of people” 2 Corinthians 5:16-18 paraphrase
Life and death is in the power of the tongue, not in the color of one’s skin. Good or evil reside in the heart of man, not the color of one’s skin. Darkness or light exists in our soul, not in the color of our skin. Skin color comes as a gift of God to protect our skin from the climate we live in, where you live: either needing your skin to block the harmful rays of the direct sun in countries like Africa, or needing less protection from your skin color in places like northern Norway. God’s gift of skin color is a God-given protection, just as immunity is a God-given protector from viral invaders.
Skin color is a gift of God protecting your skin (the biggest organ and one of the defenders of your body; intact skin is the first line of defense). Jesus says, “Do not judge by external, physical, or literal appearances, but judge with the righteousness of Jesus, rightly judging the heart — for out of the heart proceeds words that either spread the light of God or defile the person speaking. Out of the heart proceeds the springs of your life: either pure, bright, living water of life when Christ is made your source, or polluted, brackish water from refusing the pure River from the Throne of God and His Lamb. Out of the heart proceeds the springs of resurrection life (Christ in you) or springs of rebellion (apart from Christ). Life or death proceeds from the power of your tongue; either colluding with the power of satan (acting like a beast, animal instincts, irrational, limbic charged, mob mentality, incited to violence); or turning to the Power of God. Receiving glorified Christ Jesus through the Holy Spirit, opens our eyes to see as God sees, turning us from darkness and participating in the works of the devil, to the light and participating with Christ in the works of Jesus; the latter hurting themselves as they “kick against the goads” (Acts 26:13-18); the former healing themselves and others.
Out of the heart proceeds words and actions that either spread the light of Christ or defile the person (Matthew 15:11-18). Those who commit violent acts because of horrible injustice, hurt themselves twice; first by taking the offense to heart, then acting from the offense instead of speaking and acting from a heart surrendered to Christ, knowing vengeance for evil injustice comes from God not us. Apart from Christ we can do nothing, but in Christ and Christ in you we keep hearing, obeying, and doing the Word of God that bears only fruit of light, fruits of righteousness and fruit of the Spirit; blessing others and ourselves. We give our “cares of this world” to Jesus, and lay all the heavy burdens of racism, sexism, agism, and all injustice at the Cross, and take the resurrection life and Spirit of the Word instead of this world; and take the freedom of the Spirit of God to heart. “Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is there is FREEDOM” 2 Corinthians 3:17.
“Jesus Christ demands of the man who trusts Him the same reckless sporting spirit that the natural man exhibits, If a man is going to do anything worthwhile, there are times when he has to risk EVERYTHING on his leap [out of this world into the Word], and in the spiritual domain Jesus Christ demands that you RISK EVERYTHING you hold by common sense and leap into what He says, and immediately you do, you FIND that what He says fits on as solidly as common sense. At the bar of common sense Jesus’ statements may seem mad; but bring them to the BAR OF FAITH, and you begin to FIND with awestruck spirit that they are the Words of God. Trust ENTIRELY in God, and when He brings you to the venture, see that you TAKE IT. We act like pagans in a crisis, only one out of a crowd DARING ENOUGH to bank on his faith in the character of God.” ~Oswald Chambers
“Bless the Lord O my soul, and forget not ALL his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the Pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, who satisfies you with good as long as you live so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. The Lord works vindication and justice for ALL who are oppressed” Psalm 103:1-6
