I reread 1 and 2 Thessalonians this morning and 1John and it is clear that in this time of trouble it is critical to see, know, abide and rest in God, not in fear, worry, anxiety, depression, doubt or uncertainty of what is happening in the world and to those still OF the world. The Word is resurrection life and Spirit to those who abide in Christ and Christ in you, the Word abiding in you, to be able to ask and receive to give glory to God our Father and his Christ; our purpose to be free to give all the glory to God as we shine and radiate HIS glory as light and salt of the Holy Spirit.
Solemnly forewarned: human beings are not to repay evil for evil, BUT GOD will repay with affliction for those who afflict us, with vengeance and wrath for those who come against God’s beloveds. God our Father is THE Righteous, Just Judge who judges HEARTS, and out of His kindness seeks all to come to repentance, but those who are in rebellion, lawlessness, disobedience to the Word of Truth and Gospel of God, The Word says very clearly, “God deems it just to repay with affliction those who afflict you, and to grant rest with us to those of you who have been afflicted, when the Lord Jesus is REVEALED from heaven with his mighty angels in flaming fire, inflicting vengeance upon those who do not know God and upon those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. They shall suffer the punishment of eternal destruction and exclusion from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of his might, when he comes on that day [like a thief to those who are not awake; those who wake up and arise from the dead and receive Christ’s Light, see, know, abide and rest, standing firm, steadfast, confident in the Holy Spirit, unshakable, immovable, upright, righteous; right position in Christ in God, saved, delivered, free, having passed from death to life in Christ who is glorified in God’s beloveds, his saints who believe his testimony, marvel, astonished, astounded, living in reverential awe and wonder of what God our Father has done for us through Christ by the Holy Spirit]” 2 Thessalonians 1:5-12. “Jesus delivers us from the wrath to come” 1 Thessalonians 1:10.
God is gentle like a nurse calling you to Himself to be comforted, healed, delivered, set free; saved, redeemed, sanctified, glorified, and transferred into the kingdom of the Beloved Son; like the Son like the Father. God is exhorting, encouraging, charging you like a Father to lead a life worthy of the calling into HIS OWN kingdom and glory (1 Thess 2:7-12). The Holy Spirit, sent from the Father, establishes and keeps your heart unblameable in holiness and true righteousness, directing your way, and helping you to increase and abound in love to God and one another as yourself; giving you the Wisdom and Power of Christ, inspiration and revelation of God our Father and his Christ; the oil of joy, the fire of courage to stand firm, the eyes to see and know the Truth, and the Truth sets you free. We are solemnly forewarned that we are called in holiness, and if you disregard this, disregard not only man but God who gives HIS Holy Spirit to you, taught by God as sons of light, sons of the day, keeping awake; NOT destined for wrath; whether we wake or sleep we are living with Christ of God, encouraging and building one another up; at peace, exhorting, encouraging, helping, patiently enduring, knowing the outcome in Christ and Christ in you (1 Thessalonians ch 1-5).
Rejoice always, pray unceasingly in Spirit, give thanksgiving always in all circumstances; do not quench the Spirit; do not despise prophesy, but test everything; HOLD fast, STAND fast, STAND firm and steadfast. “May the God of Peace HIMSELF sanctify you wholly; and may your spirit and soul and body be kept sound and blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is Faithful, and he will do it” 1 Thessalonians 5:23. “Now may the Lord of Peace HIMSELF give you peace at all times and in all ways. The Lord be with you all…The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all” 2 Thessalonians 3:16-18.
Having done all in the Spirit, STAND FIRM and HOLD ON. “Now may our Lord Jesus Christ HIMSELF and God our Father, who loves us and gives us eternal comfort and good hope through grace, comfort our hearts and establish them in every good work and Word…The Word of the Lord TRIUMPHS and we are delivered from wicked and evil men; for not all have faith. BUT the Lord is Faithful; he will strengthen you, guard you from evil. Have confidence! May the Lord direct your hearts to the Love of God and the steadfastness of Christ” 2 Thessalonians 2:13-3:5
