Everyone in the town I grew up in called my dad, “Happy” or “Hap” for short. He always had a smile on his face and read the Holy Bible every day. I inherited his Love for the Word, but didn’t know it until I met with despairing of life, having come to the end of my rope, the end of my personal resources apart from God, at my wits end, and chose to reject the world’s solutions/answers, and turned to God, and opened His Word and it opened up to me. Today I was reading and found these eight “happy”s in the old testament:
- Happy are those who FIND Wisdom
- Happy are the people to whom BLESSINGS fall
- Happy are the people whose GOD is the Lord
- Happy is he whose HELP is the God of Jesus
- Happy are those whose HOPE is in the Lord his God
- Happy are those who KEEP My Ways
- Happy is the man who LISTENS to Me; those who FIND Me, find Life
- Happy are those who TRUST in the Lord
In the new covenant, how much more? Christ is both the Wisdom and Power of God! For the Joy that Jesus received for the finished work of the Cross, God gives to you in Christ: Jesus’ Fullness of Joy to make your joy complete (John 15:11; Hebrews 12:2). Jesus gave Himself for you, out of God our Father’s great sacrificial Love for you, so you can come to Christ and belong to Him; be crucified with Christ, no longer you who live, but Christ who lives in you (Galatians 2:20); given His Glorified Spirit, like a River from the Throne, that fills, floods, and overflows rivers of water of life; God’s Living Water, flowing from Christ in you, out of the Fountain of resurrection Life and Spirit of Christ: pure, true, just, righteous, holy, always fresh, bright, fiery, glorious, victorious, gracious, excellent, praise-worthy, never-ending; washing, purifying, refining, regenerating, renewing in the Holy Spirit, poured out richly through Jesus, from God our Father: sure and steady and faithful.
The Joy of the Lord is our strength. The Joy of the Lord is not dependent on circumstances or external events; in the midst of challenges, problems, issues, great darkness, evil, or times of trouble, Christ in you is a sure and steadfast anchor for your soul. God our Father and his Christ are the Rock, the Strong Tower, the Refuge, the Fortress, the Stronghold amidst the strongholds of the world system that eventually will fall, but in Christ and Christ in you, you will not stumble or fall. Ten thousand can fall next to you and God and his holy angels will protect, preserve, provide, pray, intercede, deliver from evil, shield, guard, bear you up, inhabit, empower, and bring God’s Very Great Promises to fruition (Psalm 91; 2 Peter 1:3-4).
“Because you cleave to Me in love, I will deliver you; I will protect you, because you know My Name. When you call, I answer; I am with you in the time of trouble, I will rescue you and honor you. With long life I will satisfy you, and show you My Salvation” Psalm 91:14-16
