What does a hole, holiness and wholeness have in common?
Teaching stories are particularly good at explaining concepts to our heart, rather than trying to figure out life with our head! Here is one of my favorites:
THERE’S A HOLE IN MY SIDEWALK |
|
Chapter One I walk down the street. There is a deep hole in the sidewalk. I fall in. I am lost …. I am helpless. It isn’t my fault. It takes forever to find a way out. |
Chapter Two I walk down the street. There is a deep hole in the sidewalk. I pretend that I don’t see it. I fall in again. I can’t believe I am in this same place. But, it isn’t my fault. It still takes a long time to get out. |
Chapter Three I walk down the same street. There is a deep hole in the sidewalk. I see it is there. I still fall in … it’s a habit … but, my eyes are open. I know where I am. It is my fault. I get out immediately. |
Chapter Four I walk down the same street. There is a deep hole in the sidewalk. I walk around it. Chapter Five I walk down another street. |
What might chapter six entail? There is no street? How about chapter seven, might it be: I wake up to the truth that “I am that I am”or I wake up to my infinite being-ness or is-ness whereby I realize:
- I am already whole
- the hole is inside my wholeness
- I am the hole as well as the holiness
- I am an empty hole that is full of my wholeness, oneness and unlimited, infinite essence
- I am whole, wholly holy wholeness
- I am whole holy spirit or god in a costume
- holiness is ordinary wholeness, extra-ordinary, super-natural and simple
- I am a unique manifestation of the Infinite One whereby every part of me contains the whole
- I am a unique individuation of the Great I Am
- I am free!
Holy cow! Waking up is fun to do!!!
What else is possible?
